Fall Into Reading 2007 and a Tiny Give-Away
I so enjoyed reading all the books I picked for the Spring Reading Thing. And I've had a lot of fun picking out what I will read this fall. The list is not extensive, but I'm looking forward to it. Katrina's reading challenges are always fun to participate in. If you haven't joined up--hop on over for a visit. Also, I am hosting a little give-away. Details at the end of this post. My Fall Reading List:
  1. An Amish Family --finished, very good and informative, easy read
  2. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants-- finished, fun book, but really for younger readers (secular).
  3. Summer --finished, I was literally in tears at the end of this one. I could relate to Ashley.
  4. The Secret Life of Bees--finished, I really enjoyed this book--different from most I've read (secular).
  5. Oliver Twist
  6. Silas Marner --finished, This is a terrific book.
  7. Murder on the Orient Express
  8. A Woman After God's Own Heart
  9. Sisterchicks Do the Hula
  10. Peace Like a River --finished,I thouroughly enjoyed this book but was a little disappointed with the ending.
  11. A Thousand Splendid Suns
  12. Playing For Pizza--currently reading
And here are the books I've added since the challenge began. So, there you have it--my reading list for the fall. I will continue to read my Everyday Life Bible--I am still on track to have it finished by the end of the year. Also, I received the entire Sisterchicks series of books from my cousin. (Thanks, Angie) I already had "Sisterchicks in Sombreros". So--I am going to host my own little giveaway and give away my extra copy. Leave a comment, and I will pick a winner on Friday, September 28th. (That even means all those lurkers out there--like EA, NG, and all the rest!)

Really good mix of books for your fall reading list, Jenna! I loved the Secret Life of Bees, and I want to start on the Traveling Pants series one day. I admire you for reading those "classics" - those are a LOT harder for me. Is Summer the second one by Karen Kingsbury? I'm trying to wait until 2008 until she finishes all 4 before I start that series. I can't stand the wait!

Is your giveway for a Sisterchicks book? If so, definitely sign me up! That's another series I really want to start and read through :)

Hope you have a great week! Happy Reading :)

I just finished Summer a few weeks ago. I feel like I know the Baxter family so well after reading so many books about them!

Hey Jenna,
I loved the Secret Life of Bees too.
I actually listened to it on cd driving to hbot and back a couple of years ago and it was one of those books I couldn't wait to get into the car to pick up where I left off. I can hear the narrator just thinking about it. Great list!
Thanks for your prayers. Izzy did sleep all night last night, so I'm feeling like a new woman today :o)!

Hey Jenna!! I had to read Silas Marner in high school. I don't remember much about it now other than I liked it. I would like to read more classics one day!:)

I'll see you Wednesday night!

I want to read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! I didn't know it was a book--but I wanted to see the movie. I haven't yet, so I'll put it off 'til I read the book.
My mom is giving me Sunrise (?) and Summer to take to the beach this weekend. I'm looking forward to those, so I checked out KK's One Tuesday Morning and Beyond Tuesday Morning to go with them. Anyway, looks like a great list you've got there. And just think, if you draw my name, you'll save shipping costs :) What a great incentive!!!
BTW, missed you yesterday.

I've never heard of the Sisterchicks, but it sounds right up my alley. Count me in!

And btw, what in the world is the Secret Life of Bees? I'm thinking its a nature book until I saw 2 other comments saying how much they liked it. Now I'm thinking, wha...???

I'm going to have to get a reading list going. There are several books "in waiting". I am currently reading A Woman After God's Own Heart" and love it!

Hey Jenna,
Okay before I forget: I'd love my name entered into the drawing! Love the Sisterchick books, but I've only read a couple!
Now onto the real meat of my note: THANK YOU! You were such an encouragement to me! I had really begun to think that it was just me, not being able to hack twins...
Your story was such a comfort. I so appreciate your honesty and your concern.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Love,
Corrie

The Secret Life of Bees is AMAZING!! It spoke to my heart so much that I felt it in my bones. You cannot, however, completely appreciate it unless you have experienced the emptiness of being motherless...of longing for a mother figure so badly that it molds who you are. I was able to relate to this book on such a personal level! The writing, on top of that, was also amazing and sucked me in! I loved everything about it.

oooh! I love contests! Count me in. I love to read, but usually avoid books cuz I tend to neglect my duties when I'm caught up in a book. I haven't read in a while so I would welcome an "excuse" to do so. I hope I win!

I'd like to enter! :)

I LOVED Secret Life of Bees when I read it! I've gotten behind on the Baxter series of books and need to pick them back up; have wanted to read Travelling Pants series for a while but haven't started those either, so many books.
Would love to be in your drawing, sign me up please ma'am! thanks

I'm not much of a reader, but I loved A Woman After God's Own Heart. It's a great study book. You'll enjoy!

Yes, it looks like you have a really good list -- lots of variety! I love Agatha Christie's books, and it's been too long since I read one. They're the kind that I can re-read many times. Thanks for being part of the challenge. Enjoy your reading!

I like your list of fall reads better than mine! Mine entails stuff like building codes, ADA specifications, etc. My only "pleasure reading" for now is whatever book I'm doing for my net (of which I have to write lessons - fun! actually I learn more when I have to teach it) and whatever book we are doing in the mentoring group I'm in, which happens to be "A Woman After God's Own Heart" -- VERY good. Hopefully come January I can read more what I want to! I've read some of the Sisterchicks books, but not "Sisterchicks in Sombreros". I hope you enjoy your fall reading! You'll have to let us know which ones are the must reads!

What a super mix. I am really looking forward to hear what you thought of these. I will be adding some of these titles to my constantly growing list.

Have a great week.
