We're Home
We're Home, and we are deep in the throes of our daily routine. The mountains were just lovely, even though the leaves had only begun to turn. The days were warm but not too warm--just right, in my opinion. We visited Cade's Cove and saw around 30 deer and too big ole bears. The bears are always the highlight--we've been blessed to see them the last three times we've vacationed there. There's just something about that place--it has made me so glad I am a mountain person, and not a beach person.
Our resort put in a huge indoor water park this year--that was the kid's favorite thing--we were able to go free-of-charge anytime we wanted. I even found myself going down the water slide a time or five. B's parents also happened to be there for a minister's retreat, so we were able to catch a couple meals with them, see a show, and go mini golfing. It was nice to see them. B's mom just had knee replacement surgery(she has rheumatoid arthritis), and it was great to see her getting around better.
I had planned to post some pictures in this post, but find that it is already time to go pick up the kiddos from school. I was telling Coach J today that I am busier now than I ever was when I was homeschooling. When I called her, she was reading a book--having a little down time. It sounded so good that I carved out 45 minutes this afternoon and sat in the rocker on my porch and finished a book. So nice--thanks for the idea, Jenny.

I am soooo looking forward to going back there next year. We are expecting a baby in April and have decided the beach is not the best choice for our vacation next year. We are going to wait and go to the mountains in the fall. My girls are excited too. We went in 2005 but that is the last time.
You'll have to e-mail me with what resort you stayed in that has the indoor water park. We would all love that. We love going to Cades Cove too. I am hoping one day we can take our horses and go trail riding there!
Welcome home! Sounds like you had a great time. We may go to Gatlinburg next year. Do you mind me asking where you stayed? Can't wait to see pictures!
Ah nah nah nah!!!! I only live an hour and a half away from there and would love to have crashed your vacation for a quick visit! I had no idea you were going to Cades Cove. I love that place!!! Ok, I'm going back to my corner where I can mope and say things under my breath because I missed meeting you IRL. I'll get over it in a week or two:-0)
Sounds wonderful! I can't wait to see your photos.
Glad you enjoyed your time in the mountains, and thrilled that you got to see bears! I would have loved that!
I'm so proud of you for making time to read! You've inspired me!
Welcome home! I know you guys had an awesome time, can't wait to see some photos. We went to Gatlinburg in October a couple of years ago and also missed the peak color, but it was still wonderful. My favorite trip, and we've been several times (and we got married up there!). We've NEVER seen a bear, so maybe we need to go back with a goal :) It took us a couple of tries to get to Clingman's Dome and not be fogged in. We love Cade's Cove too :)
Glad you're back safe and sound and had a good time!
Glad you guys made it back safely...sounds like a wonderful trip!
Welcome back. Sounds like a wonderful vacation. Like you, I'm a mountain person! I grew up on the beach and it does nothing for me now.
I love the mountains too! Glad you had a wonderful time. Hope you continue to give yourself a little reading time.
Blessings,
Julie

Please email me and let me know where you stayed if you don't mind We went to Cade's Cove last year and loved it!
Glad you are back! We leave tomorrow for the same trip, this time with our families. Hope it's nice and cool!
Sounds like a blast! So glad you had a good time and your kiddos could get out of school to go.
That's great. I love the mountains. But I only have beaches near by. : (
I'm glad you sat in your rocker on your front porch and read. Now that I've finished all my vacation reading, I don't know what to do. I guess we'll have to start school back :)
Where did you guys stay that added the water park? That sounds really nice. Dh said while we were at the beach that he's ready to go back to the mtns. How's that for extremes? I guess I could go....:)
