Wii and More
I was so excited today to finally find a Wii at Wally World--I was even more excited when I found out it came with the game Wii Sports. I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted one for our family, but Wal*mart was always sold out when I got there. Today, they had received 12, and had sold 6 by the time I got there at noon. Those things are hot. I'm not sure when we will get ours set up--no one in the family even knows I got it yet--because this is such a busy week and the weekend is packed to the gills...
*
Friday night, the twins will be performing in the Elementary musical at school. M. is especially excited because she has a solo part. She's a "Rumor Weed", and I know she will be wearing a green cowboy hat and dancing--but that's about all I know. She has kept her practicing very private--I am looking forward to it. She's quite the drama queen and can't wait to be the center of attention! A. pretty much just suffers through stuff that puts him on the stage--he only likes attention that he dictates--does that make sense??? He's very happy to not have any solos--M. could not understand why he didn't try out! They are so opposite.
*
Saturday morning will find us out nice and early helping to deliver phone books to every household within our city limits. It's quite a job--and one we've been doing every year for four years--and is a great fundraiser for our Teen Bible Quiz group from church. The money raised will go towards their mission trip to Milwaukee this summer. The kids will have to pay very little of their own money because of this fundraiser.
*
Saturday afternoon, A. and M. have Upwards basketball. I have GOT to remember to bring my camera for that--I have forgotten it at every single other game this year. For shame. M.'s fractured finger is doing fine, and she was so glad to be back playing last week after a week off for Bible Quiz and her finger, and one off for pink eye.
*
Saturday evening, we will have our 6th Annual Oscar night at our church. That is always such a fun time for our church family. We will have great food, funny entertainment, and a time of giving out awards to some very deserving people. In the past, I have always dressed pretty formally--B.has always been the MC and worn a tux so I thought I should dress up. B. opted out of MCing this year (due to his school work), so I think I will take it down a notch--no shopping for me--well, not until Sunday...
*
After church on Sunday, I am taking K. out of town to shop for a dress to wear to the Junior/Senior Banquet at school. She was asked to go a couple weeks ago and is looking forward to going--as friends. She has looked for a dress here in our small town, but she hasn't been able to find anything. We have to get one quick so that we have time to have it altered. Maybe we can sneak in a visit to Star*bucks while we're out of town. Time alone with my teenage daughter--and a trip to Star*bucks--definitely something to look forward to.

On The Front Porch Today
This crazy squirrel has been in this position forever under my porch railing. Nope, not dead--just very greedily eating something off the bottom. My first thought was, "Oh no, termites!" My second thought was, "I think ants eat termites, not squirrels--aren't squirrels herbivores--acorns and all?" So, is he eating paint?--licking water off the bottom? I'll go check it out in a second while no one is home to take a picture of me looking under there.
Before he/she got caught:

I Find It Ironic
...that my husband was the only one to get the flu shot--and is the only one to get the flu. He has been home sick with the "influenza" since Wednesday afternoon. In spite of being sick, it is very hard to get him to rest. He has managed to get a good deal of school work finished and filed our tax returns. I'm not sure if he will return to work tomorrow, but I think he will. We had such a crazy eventful week last week that I wasn't able to post--plus, B. was on the computer most of the waking hours--we have YET to get wireless.
*
K. had her orthopedic appt on Tuesday, and they told us they were unable to diagnose. She had a full body bone scan on Wednesday morning--we are getting the results of that tomorrow afternoon. She gave us a terrible scare as she had a vaso-vagal response to the shot they gave her before the bone scan. Basically, her blood pressure dropped terribly from "needle phobia"--which she has only had once before--two weeks ago. They had to get a stretcher, call a nurse, then a doctor, and were going to give her vali*um to calm her. Her stomach and back cramped up so that she was crying out in pain. It took a while for her to calm down--and I was quite concerned--none of my children have ever reacted that way before. Thankfully, B. had called right after they gave her the shot, and he was able to get right over. I was so glad--I usually do ok under pressure--but I pretty much collapse as soon as I can!!!! She was fine by the afternoon, and was able to go back to school for 6th and 7th periods.
*
While we were gone all day for this, our neighbor decided to cut down a huge pine tree on his property. It fell on our property and did some damage. We may lose one of my favorite trees.
*
M. developed pink eye on Friday, so we were off to the doctor again. She is much better today. So, in addition to all that, I worked very hard to get the house clean, run errands, and buy groceries--just in case I succumbed to the influenza! I didn't--or haven't--and for that I am truly grateful.

The Mystery Continues
We went to the Doctor on Tuesday concerning K.'s knee. It was not Osgood-Schlatter's disease, and they don't have a clue what it is. All x-rays and the MRI came back perfectly normal. He gave her a cortisone shot--which caused her to nearly pass out--the needle was huge!! She seems to be doing some better, but she is bummed about her basketball season being over. That's the way it has to be. We will take her back in 2 weeks to see what's going on. The Dr. said that if the shot helps, he will know it's one thing and not the other (joint versus muscular). He did ask if she had been tested for rheumatoid arthritis--which my cousin and mother-in-law have. She was tested two years ago for that with negative results--surely her x-ray would show joint damage by now if it was RA. I'm so glad it isn't because I have seen how awful that disease is.
*
I have had a good week with WW--down 5.5 pounds. I'm happy about that, and I can finally tell a difference in how my clothes fit.
*
We have Upwards basketball with the twins tomorrow--we will spend our whole afternoon watching games--then I am looking forward to a quiet evening at home with my family. Actually, we're going to have one of those--a quiet evening, that is, tonight. I missed the premiere of "Daniel's Daughter" on Hallmark last week because we were invited for dinner--I'm so glad it's on tonight. My house is clean, supper is cooking, no one has homework, and B. and I have plans to watch a movie together--Life is Good!
