MISSING HOME
(The lake I grew up on!)
I'm feeling a little homesick today--not sure why. It really doesn't happen very often. We left Missouri 17 years ago, but I had spent the 22 years before that almost never leaving the state. You would think that after 17 years, I wouldn't even think of it as HOME, but, today, I really do. Don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy with my current address--we've spent 11 years in Mississippi--total, and I consider it home, too! I just feel the need for my sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, etc. ( My dad has retired, with his wife, to Florida) So, I've been mopey today. Very.

Awww, that's a yucky feeling. Beautiful picture ~ by visual, I can see why you miss it. Emotionally, I know how those feelings can be. (((HUGS)))
I kinda understand the feeling, although sometimes I am more nostalgic over the era of my life there than the actual place. I miss the slower pace and the simpler times.
We used to swim in the Castor or St. Francis Rivers; did you?
Sorry you're homesick.
Great picture....hope tomorrow is a better day!
Karen, I've swam in both of those rivers a lot--especially the St Francis--I was baptized in that one too!
What a beautiful place! I hope you will be able to go for a visit soon!
Awww...I am sorry. I hope the feeling passes. Your hometown is beautiful. I bet it was wonderful growing up there. :) (((hugs)))
I was wondering what was wrong with you yesterday. I'm sorry. I wish I could whisk you up there and back so you could spend some needed time at "home".
I get homesick sometimes and never really understand why. I'm only 2 hours away from where I grew up. I hope you will feel better when the family gets to come visit. It's hard being away from them and is always such a treat when they can come and spend some time!
Gorgeous picture. I can see why that would make you miss it. I still call where my parents are "home" even though I did not grow up in that house.
Well sheesh, I would miss home too if I had a lake like that as part of the deal. Oh wait, I had Lake Erie. Now I'm landlocked in IN. Whaaaa! Seriously though, I can relate. I don't really want to live back home anymore (we were in the heart of the rust belt after all and with all the car plants closing down it has become, well, rusty). But I terribly miss my home in the country there. We built it. And my heart will always, always be in the country.
Now I do have a nice pond behind my yard here and I'm grateful for that view. But how I miss the open spaces of the country back home.
Blessings,
~toni~
