Merry Christmas To Us
First, I'm having a hard time believing that my Impatiens are still blooming in mid-December. That's a new one for me. It's raining a little this morning, and I thought they looked so pretty. Much prettier in person than in the picture though.

Homemade Cinnamon rolls! There were six of them, and since we only have five in our family, and I was the only one home--someone had to be the one to eat the extra one! That would be ME! What a delicious surprise breakfast! (We'll just try to forget about how many calories were in the breakfast I just consumed). Thanks so much Mandalyn and family, we will all enjoy them very much.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Can I just say that going out with Coach Jenny and Mandalyn was just what the doctor ordered. I had a wonderful time. I think we all did. I told Jenny that I felt like I talked everyone's ears off--and that's really something for me! We started the evening with everyone meeting at my house. Coach Jenny brought us lovely "happies"--which Mandalyn is going to share (I think), and then she asked my wonderful --and somewhat predictable hubby-- to take a picture of the three of us. He graciously agreed. This is what we saw when we looked at it:
Yes, that would be my chest--what there is of it anyway. Stinker. We finally got him to control himself--kidding-- and he took the following picture. Let me just say that I have only seen a picture of myself that I liked maybe one or two times in my life. When I look at this picture, I see two lovely ladies in black and a big white arm. Really. Also, when I enlarged the picture, I noticed I'm the only one with little crinkly wrinkles around my eyes. That's wrong, people--plain wrong. Don't even think about enlarging this picture either--I know you were. In my defense I am 5 years older than Coach J and a full decade older than Mandalyn. That is a good excuse for the wrinkles, right? Right?
We left from my house to drive to Ruby Tuesdays--Mandalyn was our driver for the evening--where we had a most interesting waiter--one of the other girls can share that--he was too much for me. He was too much for all of us, so after wonderful salads and stuff, we headed over to Cold Stone Creamery-YUM, with a capital Y-U-M. We sat and talked for hours--quite literally. It was so nice. I really love these girls. We got home at 1130ish--can't remember when I stayed out that late with friends. I sure hope we are going to do this again very soon. Loved it.
PS. I also wanted to add that I also got to have lunch with two other "non-bloggy" friends on Monday--so nice to get together with four of my best real life friends in one day--and get out of cooking anything whatsoever! You guys are the greatest.

My One Celebrity Story
In keeping with my last post where I talked about meeting Amy Grant in my dream, I thought I would post about my real life celebrity encounters. There are only 4 of them--three are rather small. First, I have posted before about meeting Lisa Welchel! That was really cool--and we even talked blogging--for like 5 seconds or something! I told her it wasn't for me! Guess I changed my mind.
I have also met Carman once--I have a picture somewhere--this was during his "Champion" tour. I was a huge fan.
I also got to meet--sort of--Louise Mandrell. We actually just had a short conversation--it was mostly with my youngest daughter--during one of her concerts. She talked to my kids because they were the ONLY KIDS THERE. She talked about home-schooling and San*derson Farms chicken!
The biggest celebrity encounter I have had was this past Christmas at a party. I was seated right next to this guy. By this guy, I mean the second from the left in the picture. He didn't look much different than that at the party either! Ean Evans is the lead guitarist ( I think lead anyway) for Lyn*yrd Sky*nyrd and actually lives right here in my town. No one would normally take me for a girl who would hang out where "Lyn*yrd Sky*nyrd" type people hang out, but he happened to be at my husband's squadron Christmas party. I have to admit that when I first saw him, I thought it was a military member in costume--someone who had already had a little too much to drink- if you know what I mean. I really thought it was for fun. Then, after I met him and his wife and talked with them, and realized that he was for real, I discovered that he is a very nice person--as is his lovely wife. His daughter happens to be married to the son of our good friends and our good friend's are also military and had invited them to come. It was fun to sit with them and watch them WIN ALL THE DOOR PRIZES--surely it wasn't rigged! A fun night, indeed. Never, ever judge a book by it's cover--that's what my momma always used to say! She was right!
So, there you have it, my only star encounters. Boomama asked yesterday for people to post their celebrity stories in her comments. They were a blast to read--I even saw someone who had dated Brad Pitt's brother. I think that post is actually where my Amy Grant dream came from. Anyway, if you want, post your encounters in my comments. I would love to read them.
I'm off for a weekend of Junior Bible Quiz. The twins are competing in Regionals! We won first in the region last year and are praying for the same this year! Pray with us?

Learning to Crochet
I have always wanted to learn to crochet. When we lived in Minot, ND, I was blessed to have a precious friend, named Sarahlee, who attempted to teach me. She was the youth pastor's wife at our church and she could crochet up a storm--she also made the most beautiful pies you ever saw! She offered to teach me one day and showed me a basic stitch--don't know what it was called, but it is the one shown in the picture above. The potholder in the picture is the one I made 14 years ago--see how very crooked it is?--I couldn't figure out how to count those stitches for nothing. In my defense, I did only have one lesson and I was left handed! I have never had another lesson or attempted to make anything else, but I would really like to. If I ever find anyone that's interested in taking on a leftie who can't count! We only lived in *"Why not, Minot?-- Freezin's the reason!"* for 19 months, so keeping and using this pathetic pot holder helps to remind me of the precious time we spent there and of my friend, Sarahlee! Every time I use it, I remember her. ( I can't believe I actually called it a precious time, since I still have nightmares about getting orders to go back there! I've never been so cold in all my days! It's a good thing the people were great!)
