My One Celebrity Story
In keeping with my last post where I talked about meeting Amy Grant in my dream, I thought I would post about my real life celebrity encounters. There are only 4 of them--three are rather small. First, I have posted before about meeting Lisa Welchel! That was really cool--and we even talked blogging--for like 5 seconds or something! I told her it wasn't for me! Guess I changed my mind. I have also met Carman once--I have a picture somewhere--this was during his "Champion" tour. I was a huge fan. I also got to meet--sort of--Louise Mandrell. We actually just had a short conversation--it was mostly with my youngest daughter--during one of her concerts. She talked to my kids because they were the ONLY KIDS THERE. She talked about home-schooling and San*derson Farms chicken! The biggest celebrity encounter I have had was this past Christmas at a party. I was seated right next to this guy. By this guy, I mean the second from the left in the picture. He didn't look much different than that at the party either! Ean Evans is the lead guitarist ( I think lead anyway) for Lyn*yrd Sky*nyrd and actually lives right here in my town. No one would normally take me for a girl who would hang out where "Lyn*yrd Sky*nyrd" type people hang out, but he happened to be at my husband's squadron Christmas party. I have to admit that when I first saw him, I thought it was a military member in costume--someone who had already had a little too much to drink- if you know what I mean. I really thought it was for fun. Then, after I met him and his wife and talked with them, and realized that he was for real, I discovered that he is a very nice person--as is his lovely wife. His daughter happens to be married to the son of our good friends and our good friend's are also military and had invited them to come. It was fun to sit with them and watch them WIN ALL THE DOOR PRIZES--surely it wasn't rigged! A fun night, indeed. Never, ever judge a book by it's cover--that's what my momma always used to say! She was right! So, there you have it, my only star encounters. Boomama asked yesterday for people to post their celebrity stories in her comments. They were a blast to read--I even saw someone who had dated Brad Pitt's brother. I think that post is actually where my Amy Grant dream came from. Anyway, if you want, post your encounters in my comments. I would love to read them. I'm off for a weekend of Junior Bible Quiz. The twins are competing in Regionals! We won first in the region last year and are praying for the same this year! Pray with us?

How neat! I've never met a celebrity. To be honest, I kinda like it that way. Celebrities don't do much for me. They're just people like us that happen to get public notice, LOL. :o) I know, I'm dull!

You have fun this weekend!

Oh how fun, that you met these celebs! It was Lisa Welchel who actually got me started blogging in a round about way. She introduced a young mom who'd be helping her in her website...I hopped onto her blog, then started reading the blogs from the replies...and the rest is history!
I posted (with picture) about meeting Evie last Christmas when she came to my old church...only have of my readers had heard of her, though! She was THE Sandi Patti of Christian music back in the 70's when I was a teen!

Shut your mouth that you got to see Carmen! Loved him! And had a crush on him when I was in middle school.

Kathy Troccoli did a women's conference at my church this past February. I had the privilege of picking her, her manager, and her pianist up from the airport and transporting them all weekend. It was tons of fun. What a great bunch of people!!!

That's so neat that you've met Lisa Welchel...I used to watch Facts of Life all the time. and how funny that Ean Evans was at the squadron Christmas party! Who would have thought!

My only brush with a celebrity came when I was working at the Air Force Academy; I got to be a co-escort for Tommy Lasorda when he had a speaking engagement there. It was really neat - picking him up from the airport, bringing him to billeting, then the dinner and hanging around for his speech. Then he signed autographs for every single cadet who waited in line. The next day we took him back to the airport. It was such a neat experience!

Hurry up and tell us how regionals went!!:) Just kidding--no rush, of course.:)

I should tell you that I rocked in your rocking chair on your front porch and my "oldest" played on your slide on Saturday! My dad was walking the lot behind your house and it was too muddy for us to go up there with the girls! Hope you don't mind (not that I can take it back if you do). Of course, I really did it to make sure your house and belongings were safe! They're fine if you don't already know.;>)

Cute picture and fun stories. I read about your Amy Grant dream too and can't believe you remember so much detail! We saw Amy Grant and Vince the last time we went skiing in Snowmass, not this year but last. This year hubby saw a poster in the store advertising a concert she was doing there this summer so I'm thinking they must have a place up there. Lots of celebrities do from what we've seen.
