Merry Christmas, Y'all
Welcome to our home. If you would like to meet our family, please go here. Thanks so much for stopping by this Christmas season. Jesus gives us so much to celebrate. I will warn you--I did not inherit much of a decorator gene, but I do enjoy the things I put out. I'm so glad Boomama decided to host again this year. I wasn't a blogger last year and wasn't able to participate. Without any further adieu--Here's a little peek:
Our Front Door
Our Mantle
(I want new stockings for the kids, but they insist that we must keep these. They have outgrown them though.)
My husband bought these geese for me in the Smoky Mountains this fall. They look so cute on my refrigerator.
I love my Old World Santas.
And finally,

Our Tree is very traditional with lots of Hallmark ornaments and other special memory ornaments. The sign at the top says, "Let It Snow"--something that almost never happens in our part of the country--much to my dismay! Merry Christmas everyone, and thanks so much for dropping by.

Merry Christmas To Us
First, I'm having a hard time believing that my Impatiens are still blooming in mid-December. That's a new one for me. It's raining a little this morning, and I thought they looked so pretty. Much prettier in person than in the picture though.
Secondly, I had such a sweet (literally) surprise waiting for me on my front porch when I got home from taking the kids to school this morning. My sweet AWOL blogging and real life friend, Mandalyn, had left a gift for our family.
When I saw the package, I knew it was going to hold something yummy! Sure enough, it did: Homemade Cinnamon rolls! There were six of them, and since we only have five in our family, and I was the only one home--someone had to be the one to eat the extra one! That would be ME! What a delicious surprise breakfast! (We'll just try to forget about how many calories were in the breakfast I just consumed). Thanks so much Mandalyn and family, we will all enjoy them very much.

A Decorating Dilemma
I am having a very hard time deciding what color of counter tops to put in, so I thought I would ask your opinions. I can't decide if I should get a nice sandy khaki color like my floors, or if I should get black. We wanted to install granite, but we have just about decided we will never have the 3k we need to have it done. I think I am ready to settle for a granite looking laminate. Below are some pictures of my kitchen as it is now--so tell me, what color counter top would look best.
my floors
I feel like I have too many colors going on with these early 90s counter tops.
A close up shot of the green counter.
Thanks in advance for your help, my friends.

If I Have To Call One More Repairman, I Will Scream
It wouldn't be so bad if I was calling repairmen for different broken things (or maybe it would be, now that I think about it), but I have to keep calling for the same stupid air conditioner. It has never really been fixed since the first time I called. The repairman has just left for the third time in a month. Ugh. He said it's probably fixed this time, but if it's not, there is one more thing he can do. I wanted to tell him to go ahead and do it now! Anyway, pray for my struggling air conditioner --and my patience with it! We can be glad that the 100 degree weather seems to be over--finally, and we don't have to melt into a puddle right in the middle of our very own living room. In other news, I am so disgusted over a biology lab experiment gone wrong. K had to bring home some experiment where she was testing the ph level of nail polish remover. She put the container on her dresser. When she picked it up to put in her back pack this morning--the solution had eaten through the container, and it had leaked out all over her dresser. Completely took the finish off of her oak dresser. It's not noticeable when you look down on it, but from the side it is. You can also feel it with your hand. We bought this dresser the year K was born--it was our master bedroom furniture for years--and it was in perfect condition--until now. I am trying to remember that it's just stuff--it's a little hard though. Anyway, B seems to think we can fix it. I don't have a clue how, and I'm hoping B does. I am facing a very busy afternoon and evening--filled with cooking, Bible quiz, basketball practice, and a PTO meeting--not to mention helping the twins study for a huge history test. It's all good though. I am adjusting to this new world of mine! I almost forgot to tell you to go visit my food blog--Jenna's Fare. I've posted a couple of great dessert recipes lately--and who can't use a good dessert? Later.

The Heat Is On
Ok--I really don't mean to be all gloomy and doomy on this blog o' mine, but you just won't believe what's happened now! Our downstairs AC unit went out last night. Yes, it's true. It would be absolutely disastrous in this 467 degree heat if we didn't have an upstairs unit that's "bustin' it's tail" right now to semi-cool this house. So far, it's working pretty good, but it's only made it to 92 degrees outside at this hour. Who knows what will happen when it's noon and 382 degrees. Spontaneous combustion, I'm guessing. The repair man will be here "sometime today", and while I am not thrilled about the huge bill he will give me for this, I am thankful that he can be here "sometime today". I am also very thankful that we have a second unit. On a much cooler note, today is my friend Annie's birthday. Please be sure to go by and wish her a happy, happy day! She is an incredible lady, and I love her dearly. Go by and get to know her if you haven't already. I think you will be impressed. 'Cause she's somethin'! Happy Birthday, Annie.

My Desk
Here's your peek, Lauren! It's nothing fancy--and I really wish my drapes hadn't been crooked in this picture--the truth is that they usually roll up that way, and we haven't had them fixed. (Yes, those are monkeys on my drapes)! I am pretty much into being neat and tidy--any books or papers you see on this desk belong to my husband--(and I dare not touch them)! Can you tell that a thunderstorm is booming outside that window? The electricity went off for a second or two just before I took this picture. I would love to see Annie's and Carrie's--if they want to play along! (Coach J and Mandalyn--I already know what yours look like, but if you want to play along---go right ahead!!)

More Spring Colors
Guess what we (mostly my husband and kids) did this past weekend! Don't you wish you had been here?
Pink azaleas.
Lavender and white azaleas
Lavender again
White again
These are red--really, they just look pink. I just wish they looked like this all summer long!
Oh, how I love the spring/summer here in the south. Heat, tornadoes, and all!

Just Doing As I Was Told
For you, Annie! The top picture doesn't look as pretty as it is in real life. There are beautiful purple and white blooms all over the bushes!
The second picture is of the daffodils that have long since wilted away!
The third is of my wisteria in full bloom. It smells wonderful and the bees are a buzzin'!
